Over the years Better Days has proven their ability to remain agile, and conduct detailed assessments. They have remained responsive to ground realities and efficient with their spending. We can attest they have worked hard within the migration context of Greece and maintain a clear sense of responsibility about the impact their work has on children’s wellbeing and education. Furthermore, their work at Gekko never failed to impress the Foundation as much as Le Rosey teachers and students.

One of the places we now teach in is Gekko school. Here our students want to stay longer and to produce more content because it is a place where they feel safe. It is a place that has allowed us to build a very positive relationship with our students. We see tremendous growth in the children with whom we work in Gekko. It is not only safe but also a proper educational space, well equipped with all the tools we need to guide our student’s learning and enhance their skills.

During our daily work in Athens, we often find unaccompanied minors that have bigger needs than healthcare. Shelter, food, clothes, and legal advice are some of the areas where they usually need immediate support. Better Days has always been our go-to partner when dealing with UASC as they always advised us on the best practices and course of action to provide the protection they deserve.

We were introduced to Better Days’ work helping provide non-formal education to unaccompanied and separated children at Gekko Kids, and were convinced with their commitment, integrity, workmanship, and professionalism to develop and implement high-quality humanitarian programming under demanding circumstances. In developing the Child and Family Support Hub (CFSH) in Moria, named Tapuat Centre, Better Days immediately took responsibility for both establishing the space - taking an old car dealership and working with civil engineers and contractors to build classrooms, female-friendly and child-friendly spaces, and indoor and outdoor leisurely areas. Developing the educational programming and outreach strategy. Better Days has shown its tremendous commitment to provide quality child protection and non-formal education activities to as many children and mothers as possible from Moria camp, by working tirelessly and flexibly adjusting the programme to the needs of the beneficiaries.

OHF is very happy to be a partner of Better Days for many years. We are grateful for the support we received on many different occasions, from in-kind donations to covering expenses in emergency situations, from data collection and assessments to strategic planning and restructuring as well as implementing together sustainability and ecology projects. We always had good communication with Better Days staff members which showed great competence, professionality, understanding of the context and flexibility, and we hope to continue conducting interesting projects together in the future.
